How to play FreeCell
- Build four foundation piles in suit order from Ace to King in the four piles on the right side of the board.
- Use the four free cells on the left to temporarily store cards you cannot play right now, helping you uncover cards beneath them.
- Move sequences of cards by working down in alternating colors—place a red card on a black card or vice versa—until you build all four foundations to win.
Common questions
How is FreeCell different from regular Klondike solitaire?
In FreeCell, all cards are visible from the start and you can hold up to four cards in reserve cells. This makes it more a game of planning and skill than chance—almost every game is winnable if you play strategically.
What should I do if I get stuck?
Use your free cells wisely to store cards temporarily. Never waste a free cell on a card you don't need to move, and always move Kings to the empty tableau columns first when you have room.
