How it works
Pick a topic, or All topics mixed. You get ten questions, one at a time, in large type. There are no answer buttons. Think of the answer, say it out loud if you like, then press Show answer. The right answer appears with a short fact about it.
Then you mark yourself: I knew it or Not this time. At the end you see how many you knew, and all ten questions are listed with their answers. There is no timer and no way to lose.
Playing it with a group
I made this version so one person can run a quiz for a table. The reader holds the phone, reads each question aloud, and waits for the guesses. Pressing Show answer puts the answer on screen in big letters, along with a fact the reader can share. Nobody needs to see the screen before the answer is out.
The topics and the questions
There are five topics: Classic Movies, Golden Oldies Music, General Knowledge, Nature & Gardening, and Food & Cooking. Each has 24 questions, and a round draws ten of them at random. All topics mixed takes two from each. These are the same questions as the Trivia Quiz, which gives you four answers to choose from instead. For one fixed set a day, the same for everyone, play the daily trivia quiz.
Frequently asked questions
- How is this different from the Trivia Quiz?
- The Trivia Quiz gives you four answers to pick from. Here there are no answers to pick from: you think of the answer yourself, then press Show answer. It is harder, and it works when one person reads the questions out to others.
- How is my score counted?
- After each answer is shown, you press I knew it or Not this time. Nobody checks, so the score is as honest as you are. At the end you see how many you knew, and all ten questions are listed with their answers.
- What if I have no idea?
- Press Show a clue. It lays out four possible answers, one of them right, and it does not change anything about the score. Or simply press Show answer.
- Can I play with a group?
- Yes. One person holds the phone or sits at the computer and reads each question aloud. Everyone calls out or writes down an answer, then the reader presses Show answer and reads out the answer and the fact that comes with it.
- Is it really free?
- Yes. It is free, and you do not need to sign up or give an email. There are no pop-ups and nothing that sits over the quiz. To keep the site free I may show a few small, clearly-marked ads off to the side.
